We can help plan your visit to the fascinating Scottish islands. Please let us know if you have an idea of dates, time available and if you have a preference for hotels or B&Bs (or perhaps a mix depending on availability) and our friendly team will be happy to work out a wonderful holiday itinerary and a competitive cost for your approval.
It is a good idea to plan ahead, especially for the islands, to make sure you get the best choice of availability and accommodation.
Our individual, self drive holidays (with your own car or a rental car) are tailor made to suit your own preferences and requirements, and we will book the necessary island ferry sailings for you when visiting Scotland’s islands.
We have a choice of friendly hotels and nice guest houses/B&Bs we can book for you of a good 3-4 stars standard that we work with on a regular basis and receive excellent feedback from our other guests. Some self catering is also available (but usually for weekly stays).
Nearly all guest houses/B&Bs offer bed & breakfast only but there are hotels or restaurants nearby or a short drive away for evening meals. Advance booking for dinner is strongly recommended (essential) (even when staying in hotels).

Outer Hebrides
There is the ferry connection from Ullapool on the west coast mainland to Stornoway (Isle of Lewis) and also from Oban to Castlebay on the Island of Barra at the southern end of the island chain.
Accommodation is available in Ullapool and Oban if needed before or after a trip to the Outer Hebrides.
The islands can be visited in either direction (visiting Barra first or Lewis/Harris first), and we can plan a route to make best use of the ferry timetable.
South Uist, Benbecula and North Uist are connected by causeways so you can drive around without any need for ferry crossings.
Harris and Lewis are one island, you can stay in both areas or all nights at the same location. It’s about 2.5 hours drive from the very bottom of Harris (Leverburgh) to the top of Lewis (Butt of Lewis), and about an hour between the village of Tarbert (Harris) and the town of Stornoway (Lewis).
From Uig in northern Skye there are ferry connections to and from the island of North Uist and Harris.

As well as the Outer Hebrides, we book individual self-drive holidays to the west coast Inner Hebrides & Clyde islands such as Mull & Iona, Skye (which can be combined with the Outer Hebrides), Islay & Jura, Arran, Colonsay, Gigha, Coll & Tiree and Bute, as well as the northern ‘Viking Isles’ of Orkney and Shetland, or any combination you want, with the island hopping ferries included.
We also have a lovely selection of hotels and guest houses/B&Bs, and some self catering cottages/lodges, across the whole of Scotland, including castle style hotels, country house hotels, smaller family run guest houses/B&Bs and city centre hotels.
